Pastor Delwin E. Benton was born to Dalton E. Benton and the late Robin G. Curtis. He was guided and reared by the late Rev. Franklin LaVergne and Mrs. Annie LaVergne. Being reared in a Christian home, he confessed Christ and was baptized in 1986 by his grandfather the late Pastor Franklin LaVergne at the True Love Missionary Baptist Church in Houston, Texas.
Pastor Benton acknowledged his call to the ministry on October 21, 1999. He received his license to preach God's Word on November 21, 1999 under the leadership of Pastor D.L. O’Neal and was ordained on August 19, 2006 by Pastor W.A. Jordan of the Lyons Unity Missionary Baptist Church.
Pastor Benton is a proud graduate of Jesse H. Jones High School and holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management from Texas Southern University. He is currently pursuing his Masters of Divinity Degree from the Houston Graduate School of Theology.
Pastor Benton has served in many capacities in ministry most notably as Youth Minister and Assistant Pastor at the Lyons Unity Missionary Baptist Church under Pastor William A. Jordan.
Pastor Benton is the proud husband of the former Richarria Jessalyn Garrette and they have been blessed with a miracle son Dylan Garrette, and daughter, Delaney Robin Ann Benton. In June 2009, Reverend Delwin E. Benton has been given the awesome privilege to serve as the Senior Pastor of Canaan Missionary Baptist Church in Houston, Texas.
Pastor Benton believes that his life is the consummation of the answered prayers of his loved ones, and he has given himself totally to the Lord for the preaching of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the building of the lives of the people of God. His lifelong testimony and mantra is “I’ve got so much to be thankful for!”
